We can determine if your poor internet speeds are the result of a poor internet connection to your home, or poor reticulation within your home (poor WiFi coverage or cabling).
From experience often the router is poorly located within the home and has been installed in a room or part of the house where you are least likely to use it. During installation, the location is often chosen based on the easiest place to run the cables instead of the location which will give the best coverage and results. We can relocate the router to where it would be more usefully located.
As convenient as WiFi is, many people struggle to receive good coverage throughout their home. This can be due to walls or objects blocking or reducing the signal. Command Communications can hard-wire WiFi access points throughout your home to improve coverage. We can also hard-wire your streaming devices, for example your smart TV, Vodafone TV, Apple TV, or World TV decoders to name a few. Did you know poor coverage/transfer rates will cause your device to downgrade the picture quality as it struggles to get the required data or information it needs to provide a high quality or high definition picture.
To keep things really tidy, the modem and router and all patch connections can be run to a central distribution box, usually located in a cupboard or the garage. So all that will be visible throughout the house will be the ceiling or wall mounted access points (similar size to smoke detectors).
What is the modem? The modem is used to convert the data at the providers end to a signal that can be sent over long distance. Then a modem at the user end or home is used to convert that transmission signal back to computer data to be used by the user’s device. Like how we convert sound in a radio studio to a radio signal, send it over long distance, and then using a radio receiver to convert it back into sound for the listener (the modem is like the radio receiver).
What is the router? A router is essentially a computer which routes or directs the data between the devices on your home network (LAN-Local Area Network -your computers, printers, and internet capable devices at home) and the internet (WAN- Wide Area Network or all the other devices on the internet)
